How far of a step back are we about to take if the boys wisely enter the portal to see what's out there for them? I'd hate to end up like Valpo.

Valentine is the smart decision. Got to keep continuity and a good thing going. I think his age is actually a good thing. He knows how to recruit and he'll keep the philosophy that has worked going. He'll also keep more players than any other candidate would. If Henrickson is fully expecting it, I'd expect this to be done by the end of the weekend. Monday latest.

A succession plan should always be in place. Why go through a process if you have a plan that you are comfortable with.

Honestly, of all the players I feel worst for right now, it might be Hutson. Kid chose to come here as a walk on for a year, when he probably could’ve gone elsewhere on scholarship, and after that year one the whole thing might blow up. That. Sucks.

Part of this is just venting, but that struck me a few minutes ago how much that probably sucks.

If it's Valentine, I'm down.

I want 1) someone with a connection to our culture--I know that's a squishy phrase, but cutting all ties to our recent success would be very risky, despite our financial advantages within the conference; 2) someone from outside but with head coaching experience--we can afford to pay, and should have tons of great coaches with great connections; 3) P5 assistant, particularly someone from one of the "Legend Trees" like Scheyer--attractive names, but no experience--I don't see this as being too appealing.

Drew Valentine to keep the "CuLtUrE" then as others have said a salty assistant coach that has had some head coach experience.
