I heard from my sources, which are Shannon Ryan and John Goodman's twitter accounts, that DePaul has zerod in on Kenny Payne for their job & IU wants someone with ties to the program from the glory days.

Outlier candidate if Porter leaves - Paxson's dad Doug.

FOX SPORTS CONFIRMED TONIGHT THAT DEPAUL WANTS KENNY PAYNE AS ITS TOP CANDIDATE FOR HEAD COACH.
DID NOT RULE OUT PORTER.

I see Marquette as the biggest risk, by far. IU will go with a bigger name, and DePaul seems to have their #1 guy in the cross hairs. I'm trying to decide if Marquette is that big of a step up, though. Sure, bigger conference and strong bball support - but isn't Loyola also on the same trajectory?

I see Marquette and Notre Dame as the biggest threats. Majerus ties. Midwest. Bigger Conference. Bigger Money. Bigger Fan base, but Catholic schools that rely on developing players rather than one and done. Close to home. It is an easier transition for Porter's coaching techniques.

Yes, Marquette is a step up. They're in the Big East and their basketball budget is massive, Loyola has been great and is trending upwards but there not at the level of Marquette and it's too early on to tell if they'll ever get there.

4th place in the Big East can get you into the dance fairly consistently. That will probably never happen again in the Valley. That’s the biggest difference

There is a rumor floating around that IU is going to back up the truck for Porter.

Not sure I believe that, but putting it out there

Who knows. But I have heard they want someone in the IU family. They tried outside hires and it didn’t work. Plus I highly doubt PM would want to go there. They have unrealistic expectations.
