I had to double check with Mike to be sure. But yes. Open bar.

The Twitter account for Smart's AAU team, The Illinois Wolves, is tweeting or retweeting about all its players who've signed LOIs so far.

No mention of Smart.

Plus, this is more definitive evidence that Smart did NOT sign. If what ahunte said is true about a school only being able to issue ONE press release about recruit signings during the early signing period, (and ahunte's record for accuracy is second only to mine) then this means Smart won't sign until spring. And my guess is that he won't sign with us.

That wasn't me... I have no idea if that's true or not. Seems like the kind of dumb rule that the NCAA would implement though, so I'm inclined to believe it.

I'm not sure if superfan's right. This is from the NCAA Division 1 Manual:

13.10.3 Publicity After Commitment. There are no restrictions on publicity related to a prospective student-athlete after he or she has signed a National Letter of Intent or the institution’s written offer of admission and/or financial aid or after the institution has received his or her financial deposit in response to its offer of admission, except as set forth in Bylaw 13.10.1.

If that's the case, then it's still possible for Smart to sign with Loyola in this signing period. Doubtful, but not foreclosed by any NCAA regulation.

To be fair, I did say correct me if I'm wrong in my press release post, so it's nice to be corrected I guess.

Hopefully this isn't a big deal though. Briscoe just announced his intention to go to Kentucky but said he'll sign his LOI in the spring which many people are taking to be a sign that he'll wait and see what happens with the rest of UK's recruiting and draft picks. Maybe Smart just wants to make sure the coaching staff that recruited him is still around in the spring. Even though I really want him to come to LU regardless of the coach, I can't fault him for it.
