swellfella.........You are the king of Hey But..... so in that whole article you came away with OMG they said he trained Malnati???? Malnati was a great gamble. Well known successful high school coach with tons of ties in the Chicago area, able to relate to young kids which we had a slew of.....and tons of experience teaching the fundamentals. Yes PM was not responsible for his success but still a great hire even though it didnt work out. My guess is as already mentioned a better home situation and a chance to be the head guy or maybe he discovered the college scene just wasn't for him.
On the other hand this article said a lot. In the past an assistant leaving LU would have gotten the itty bitty type one sentence section 2 months after it happened. It turned a possible negative into a positive , gave the program some pub and some positives for PM.
Again I think the truth will be in who replaces these guys, having someone who has worked for him before is certainly a positive to start with.

Wasn't the rumor that Malnati wanted the LA job but didn't get it? Also, in addition to all those valid reasons why Malnati left, hopefully he could help us out recruiting now he's a high school coach. It certainly doesn't hurt when the coach of one of the better HS program has a direct tie to our current head coach

Re: New Assistants
Hey but...Fenwick also has a player with ties to Loyola, John Planek's son.
And Fenwick has a legitimate D1 prospect in 2014 SG Scott Lindsey.
I wonder if Planek's son would encourage Lindsey to sign with Loyola after his father was fired as AD there.

Re: New Assistants
yes he applied for the LA job but he wanted to bring kids in from anywhere. I feel he just didnt want to be a second wheel. My guess on the others is they saw how Rick was the only guy PM listens too. That would push anybody out the door

Re: New Assistants
As the German Guy said--"I know nothing"--but having said that , I feel that these assistants must be good or--
--1--PM would not have hired them
--2-- Nor would others have grabbed them if they were bad. Point in PM's favor.
Now then, PM will find some more "right" guys--He has proved he can do it.
The bottom line is , will he coach winning teams starting this season ? I feel he will--but if not, well--see ya !!!! It is obvious that LUC will accept no less.
