Again, solid in-depth content JCT.
Brought back many memories... thanks for this 'next chapter' in your series.
I'll add one note: Joe Gentile was hoping for a 7500-seat arena.
(He said so... I was working for him the day the new gym was announced in the Spring of 1995.)
Never found out why Loyola went with the 5000+ version...
Looking forward to your next report!

I think the smaller gym size was a good decision.....NU just re-did their arena and brought capacity down about 1500 to I think 6500. With access to tv and computer less people are attending everywhere.

I saved the article from the Amphtheatre mamager and his statement about Depaul being able to draw close to 10,000 fans for a basketball game at an outdoor court in Nebraska . I was at the Feb. 1989 game where Gene Sullivan's Ramblers defeated De Paul in front of just over 4,000 fans at the Amphtheatre . The seating capacity was 8,000 . The building was owned by Chicago commercial buildings slumlord Lou Wolfe and shady drug dealers .

Lu Wolf is a slumlord?!?
I say bring back Bo Rambler! He may be a penniless vagrant, but at least he's honest.
