We know for sure the 2018 team would've been out if they lost the title game because they were ranked lower than the last 4 in at large teams on the seed list. If anyone wants a good laugh, look at all the teams the selection committee thought were better in 2018.

Here's one caveat to that.... I believe 2017-18 was the last year the selection committee used the RPI. The following season, they began using the NET rankings, which has an efficiency/performance component to it similar to KenPom. On selection Sunday, we had a KenPom of 41 (it was 45 before the AM Final). There were a lot of teams picked for at large bids ranked well below the 45 mark that year.... I think a KenPom of 45 and a win at Florida probably gets you in under the NET rankings, because the net tracks closer to KenPom than RPI. But knowing how the NCAA regresses to the mean, there's no way to be sure.

I see CBS has both Davidson and Norfolk in the tournament currently. It would have been nice to get those games in

Davidson for sure. I’m not sure Norfolk St would’ve done much for us, though, other thank just give us a game to play. Their current NET rank is 167, which would be 7th in the MVC, or about the equivalent of Indiana State right now.

The loss didn’t hurt that bad, Loyola is #26 in NET, #29 in Kenpom, and still received 21 AP top 25 votes.

Just throwing this out to remind everyone that sometime good teams have bad days. We can be one of those teams.

Vanderbilt up to 82 in NET after a win against LSU. Looking like our best chance at a 3rd Q1 win.

Is it selfish for me to think about how special this season could have been if Krutwig stayed one more year?

Yes, but I too think about it all the time.

Dropped from 29 to 30, so not awful. But these last five games are critical, obviously.

I think last year was the special season you are looking for...even with Krut this year, it would be pretty hard to top last year's accomplishments. Conference championship, Arch madness and an upset of 1 seed Illinois.
