I realize that most individuals on this site only pay attention to men's basketball. In my dotage I have enjoyed following all of the Loyola teams.
This year the women's volleyball team has been excellent. They won the regular season title, and lost the tournament championship by two points.

On Sunday they picked teams for two post season tournaments. Five teams from the MVC were chosen and Loyola was not among them! Three of the teams had rpi rankings far below Loyola. Loyola had also beaten three of these teams twice during the season.

Does anyone have any idea why the team was not chosen for post season play?

We should have won. I was watching the live stats while I was at an event, and after we won the first and second sets, I thought we were in. It was a surprise to see us lose by two points in a fifth set.

You know what? The MVC has had a down year compared to previous women's volleyball seasons. UNI has been a perennial ranked or near-ranked team, and they had a terrible year. It seems a bit unfair that Loyola's out only because the tournament happened to be located at the #2 team's home court, and Loyola lost by 2 points playing them on their home court. But that's why I've always been a proponent of hosting as many league championships as we can.
