Scary Start for Women's Soccer

Post by JCT »

Not only is the women's soccer team 0-2-1 to start the season, they've been outscored 5-0 and lost their two exhibition games, at home, by a combined score of 6-1.

In the 4-0 loss to Arizona State, the team was outshot 29-2, shots on goal were 12-1, and corner kicks were 10-1. Ouch!

Coach Barry Bimbi is one of the last vestiges of the Grace Calhoun regime, and owes his job to being Jason Calhoun's college buddy.

He should, and probably will, be fired at the end of this season.

Odd that they were picked to finish 2nd in the MVC and they've started off so badly. I can understand losing at Arizona State, but going scoreless at Green Bay in double OT, followed by a home shutout loss to Fordham after losing both exhibitions by two goals or more is bad.

The team is tied 2-2 right now headed into OT at home with Valpo. At least they got on the scoreboard.

Definitely a rough start. Soccer is a fickle sport. Gotta find the right style and combo to carry it out. I am planning on going on October 8th, WOmen at 5 and men at 7:30. Good chance to see both teams.
