Might not be a bad home for them. If they don't have to add football, it would probably work out pretty well. Not sure where the MVC would turn if they left.

The answer is so obvious even GoRamblers should be able to figure it out...

Depaul leaves the Big East with its tail between its legs and joins Drake as a perennial Thursday team at Arch Madness.

As much as I'd like SLU to switch over, and as bad as they are this year....they have a really, really good recruiting class coming in, so I can't see them doing what they view in their mind as a step down.

I think some people on the DePaul board were actually talking about that after they lost to UIC...

Well just for funsies and in the flavor of god closed doors and opens windows.....that gives us two years to start a whole new conference!!! what would our perfect conference be....you are also welcome to estimate the chances of it happening

If this plays out, the AAC is a great fit for us. I do hope it happens as it would give us much more exposure in OK and TX where we recruit students. It would also give us more exposure in the southeast where Marshall and company recruit a lot of athletes.

I'd be curious if the MVC would maintain the public/private split and look to add a public school. I've said for a decade or so now that the MVC should have looked to 12 when they were in a position of strength instead of reacting when they take a hit.

I would think the list would include the following.

NDSU
SDSU
UND
Milwaukee
Detroit
Oakland
Wright State
Valpo
UMKC
Omaha
Little Rock
SIU-E
IUPUI
UIC

I doubt the Dakotas get considered as the XDSU's would want to stay together and I doubt the MVC ever goes for more than 10.

Valpo has had good basketball and is close to Chicago.
UMKC would put the MVC officially in the KC market. But fewer people in KC watch UMKC than watch Wichita.
Omaha would get the MVC back into that market
Little Rock is a basketball only that's shown some promise and would be a partner for MSU. UMKC could also be a travel partner
SIU-E is kinda sorta in the STL market which would make the MVC happy. And why not have half of the conference in one state?
UIC would double down on Chicago.

Those are probably the most likely options in my opinion.

I'll take up Nate's challenge and design the ideal conference affiliation for Loyola. It makes so much sense that it will never happen.

It is an all private (and predominantly Catholic) school conference taking the current Big East lineup and adding Loyola, Fordham, Dayton, St. Louis, St. Joseph and Bradley.

There would be two eight team divisions:

EAST
Fordham
St. John's
Villanova
St. Joseph
Georgetown
Seton Hall
Providence
Xavier

WEST
Loyola
DePaul
Marquette
St. Louis
Dayton
Creighton
Butler
Bradley

I would be the commissioner and the conference playoff system would give Loyola in perpetuity a bye to the finals.
