Northern Iowa Preview and Game Thread -- 1/18/2017

I am trying to remind myself of all the games Doyle has single handedly won for us so I'm not so mad tonight...

Our best player had an off night shooting, we made a lot of stupid mistakes and turnovers, and they had 8 to our 5 on the floor. Tough to win those type of games.

Who were the refs?

The refs in that game were abysmal. We played awful offensively, but our defense kept us in it. I don't know how they could call that foul on Ben at the end of regulation. Just atrocious, especially given that refs are more likely to let that stuff slide at the end. I'm speechlees.

3-8 in the valley is separated by two games. We currently have the six spot.

That game was incredibly frustrating. Hate losing a game like that. Loyola just wasn't sharp on offense and they didn't benefit from some shady officiating. Just can't let this snowball into Saturday.

This League and its referees are NOT going to let us win especially games such as this--It and they will protect the "P\Old Guard" no matter what.
WE are the BIG CITY vs the " COUNTRY"--- New kid vs the establishment
For us to win, we must win BIG--Leave no doubt in each game.

It has been a LONG time since I have witnessed such flagrant one sided "officiating"

A lot of times I get frustrated on this message board when people call out the refs, because I think usually good and bad calls go both ways. But I honestly felt like the officiating in this game was total crap. There was not one play that I thought "oh, we got away with one there." Every call went their way, and with what they were calling "fouls" on us, I find it hard to believe that we were only fouled once in the act of shooting the entire regulation. We could not have gotten more screwed in this game by the refs. That's not UNI's fault, but it's frustrating to lose to a team we should have beat like that. I feel bad for Richardson. He played his butt off on defense and did an awesome job, only to get screwed at the end of regulation. And the fifth foul on Jackson? That was complete bull and changed the game. Just awful. I really want to go re watch this game with a pen and notepad and count all the missed fouls and crap calls on us.
