Keep in mind that this leak was coming out of the MVC coaches/admins meeting yesterday. Believe ADs are joining them today (our AD mentioned as much on local sports talk radio in Indy) so this is probably just the wishes of that group.

As we all know, it's the University President's that drive the bus.

Looks like Valpo will be the only addition. I was hoping the league would go to 11 or 12.

I was rooting for Valpo and Murray St. to get added this year, and then look to add a strong 12th next year. That said, Valpo isn't the end of the world for the Valley like some people think.

I love the argument that the private schools just vetoed any public school. If it was that big of an issue, then why didn't the public schools veto Valpo? They had the option. If Murray St needed to be added that badly, I would've said "if you won't add Murray, we won't add Valpo." It's that simple. Everyone knew that staying at 9 was the worst choice, so something would've happened. The other school considered were public, so I'm sure in the end, the public block would've won and had at least 1 public school added.

Unanimous decision. The fans have the problem, not the schools.

From MSU's President.

I get the sense that not bringing in Murray was more of an indictment on teams vying for the 3rd spot than Murray itself. Also worth considering the things outside basketball schools would have to do to join the Valley(i.e. do they need to add sports etc.)

No matter what the actual vote was, it was always going to be announced as unanimous. You don't want a school to get invited with schools publicly dissenting against them. That's bad PR.
