SISTER JEAN IN TODAY'S WALL STREET JOURNAL

Post by 25yearstreak »

Last place I expected to see a Sister Jean article in the Sports section of today'sTHE WALL STREET JOURNAL.
Great article talking about her background and her place at Loyola. She finally gets to see a game this year.
Article was on the "A" section page 14 above the fold and a full five columns with a great picture.
So nice to see Loyola being getting some great NATIONAL publicity.
Also on Sports last night Lou Canallis was doing a story about college basketball and the story mentioned DePaul. In ending the segment he commented on how DePaul would always be behind Loyola.
Its a great time to be a Rambler.
I had not realized that Loyola had won 18 of their last 19 with the only loss being in OT to Drake.
If I remember correctly in the Final Four year we had a one point loss to Bradley before big winning streak.
Both losses featured very questionable last minute calls against the Ramblers.

To be fair, Lou Canellis is a Loyola grad. But it’s nice to see him comfortable enough to trash talk on the air!

More importantly, did Sister have any stock tips?

I agree . I think Lou is becoming thee CHicago sports guy now that Deincrecco is gone.....I got in a text battle with Laurence Holmes of THe SCORE yesterday....He was wearing his Depaul blue a little too loudly for my taste....implying that Depaul could have Porter if they wanted him, he implied that the BIG East gave Depaul the cash to bring Porter over....I told him the only thing Depaul has proven is that money doesnt necessarily spell success......and finishing LAST 5 years in a row even in a good conference just does not mean that much....its like being on the team and not playing.....ask NU in the BIG TEN.

There was also a nice article on Sister Jean in the USA Today today. The clever headline - "Nun too pleased for Indianapolis Trip".

Where is the Jesuit virtue of humility? Sister Jean seems to like the spotlight a little too much and making things all about her.

I mean, petitioning the NCAA to attend and making a dog and pony show about getting the vaccine ?

As President Biden would say, "c'mon man" !

Let the players have their shine and not have to compete with the Sister Jean side show.

She's a 102 year old woman who has raised awareness and $$ for the school. Students love her. And players seem to love her too. She's been a great story and, like it or not, is one of the big reasons "casuals" will remember Loyola's run. How many fans can name players from the FF runs by VCU or George Mason?

She has waited a long time for the team to be good--let her enjoy her shine. Krutwig and the guys are getting plenty of pub too.

I never understood the hate against sister jean, she's a 101 year old nun that everyone at Loyola loves. Not the best look uoficpa, but I guess that should be expected from a narcissist that uses cpa in their username.
