Re: Oklahoma and Porter stuff
OU now 3-10 in SEC play (16-10 overall) after tonight’s 22 point loss at Florida. Their whole team has quit on him.
You shouldn’t want to go see what everyone is saying about this on “X” …….
OU fanbase and their slime AD do not deserve coach Porter.

Sounds like the OU fanbase and AD are #AllIn. It'll be nice to see Porter on broadcasts next year, he is well spoken and has enthusiasm for the sport. It'll be less nice to see him coaching some mid major team in '26 competing with us for recruits.

The Micah Shrewsberry experience at ND isn’t off to so hot a start in year 2. They have a couple of 4 star recruits coming in next season, but if he can’t compete in a down ACC in year 3 I wonder if that job opens next year or the following. Porter gets fired/bought out if he missed the tournament this season, does the studio shows for a year or two to get some more tape there, and then try take a run at an possibly open ND seat for what probably close to his dream job (which I’d think is probably Creighton).440Rambler wrote:Sounds like the OU fanbase and AD are #AllIn. I don't think ND would be interested in Porter given the OU performance.
While its very understandable that Loyola fans have a positive outlook on Porter, I don't think selling a 2018 Final Four run in South Bend in 2026 is a winning formula for ND athletics. Porter essentially has no demonstrated success in the NIL and portal era of college basketball which i think would be an important resume point for any significant P5 job where significant NIL money will be spent by the school and boosters.

Someone posted on Twitter the other day that Porter is ~80 games under .500 in conference play without Cam Krutwig on his roster. That's atrocious. He should owe Cam a sizable % of his OU contract.
Re: Oklahoma and Porter stuff
If this is it at OU, I'm guessing he does TV next.

Or…Krutwig thanks him for finding him and having a system that played to both their strengths. Great partnership of player/system/coach

Porter, Custer, Gates, and Oklahoma are almost certain to make the Tournament. Impressive run to end their Georgia game, and an impressive last few weeks of the season.

I watched the game yesterday and I had to chuckle. OU was 6-12 in conference and was playing GA who was 8-10 in conference. The announcers kept saying how with a win OU would be in the NCAA. How does a 6-12 team beating a 8-10 team get you in the tournament? The big conference media spin is just out of control this time of the year. The same with the "bracketology experts". Doesn't matter which one you may like, they are not gurus or prophets. They are NCAA company men who know what is going to happen and are being told what to print or say. It's always about the $$$, ALWAYS!

I mean, if there was a rule that said you had to be at least .500 in conference play to qualify, I’d wholly and enthusiastically support that. However, there is no such rule, and given the committees history of what they look at (metrics, out of conference wins, quad 1 wins, etc), Oklahoma is all but guaranteed to be in.Mudville21 wrote:I watched the game yesterday and I had to chuckle.
