One thing of note: the House settlement is currently delayed. The judge, who in addition to admonishing the parties for assuming she would just rubber-stamp approve the settlement, expressed concern about how roster size requirements would hurt current walk-ons: https://blog.sportsrecruits.com/2025/04 ... r%20limits.

The workaround that everyone seems ready to approve is to grandfather in current walk-ons under the 15 player roster limit. Obviously this would affect high schoolers in the class of 2025 and on, but shouldn't affect the walk-ons we currently have on the team.

It seems like Royster is coming back. Does anybody know about the other walkons from last year?

Northwestern Football is in a dilemma because of this,,, they are pretty much a developmental program and depend a lot on walk ons....has left them way over the roster limit unless current walk ons are grandfathered.

I think because he is listed as an incoming freshman....Verbal commits has him as an incoming freshman...so not added through the portal transfer .....

I think with these international transfers it can jsut take a little extra time getting everything cleared with the NCAA before they can be on the roster. Drew reposted a video about him winning “Youngster of the year” in his pro league earlier this week, so I’d guess he’s still coming.

The 16 guys on the current roster is what makes me wonder....either some walk-ons will be cut or the kid from germany isn't coming anymore. While I'll feel badly for a kid losing their spot on the team, I would love to see the German kid on this squad.

I think the rumor is anyone who was a walk-on last year won't count towards the 15 roster limit. They get grandfathered into it, so that no walk-on loses a spot due to a rule change. However, anyone in high school who commits would count against the roster count even if they would traditionally walk onto the team. I feel bad for the high school players who would traditionally get to be on a DI team that now get squeezed out due to the roster limits.

Also, ahunte the scholarship chart says we have 12 on the roster with 3 spots left, but with Richardson, it's 13 scholarship players. Wasn't sure if you weren't counting him until he's on the roster or if we're so used to the 12 scholarship limit, we just missed that we gave an extra one this year.
