I am sure there hasn't been any steps taken to correct archmaddness. The hope is winning will solve everything.
Selling travel packages was the least of Calhoun's worries.

I thought we sold out Butler a few times. And DePaul when they came to Gentile as well?

I could be wrong but I thought all of those were a little shy. I know the guy to ask though.

The men's volleyball tournament was a total sell out, listed at the fire code capacity. We also had several games besides Michigan State where it was close to a sell out in the old configuration, but more than the current capacity: 4821 for Kansas State in 2010, 4723 against Butler in 2007, and maybe one or two others.

In looking it up, Bailey's last home game against UIC was 5392, a 1999 game against UIC was 4705, the Gentile Center opening against Eastern Kentucky in 1996 was 4623, UIC in 1998 was 4572, and UIC in 2002 was 4539.

According to Loyola's website, seating capacity at Gentile after renovation is 4963.

According to the website, attendance at the NCAA championship volleyball game was 4485. http://www.loyolaramblers.com/sports/m- ... mvb30.html

I was there, and it sure didn't look like they could squeeze an extra 500 people in. And, I was told by Nelson Taylor that the game was a sellout.

So I don't really know what the hell is going on with capacity and sell outs.

My best guess is that 4,486 is the seating capacity, and the higher number is the max people allowed in (standing in the area above the student section, for example).

You will have time to figure it out while you're waiting in line for my hot dog. I like mustard and relish, by the way.

The 4963 figure I cited is specifically for "seating capacity". The only thing I can figure is that it refers to all the fixed seats, plus the number of folding chairs that can fit on the floor during the graduation ceremony and other non-sporting events.

FYI, I like mustard, onions, relish, sport peppers, a dill pickle, and celery salt on my hot dog.

That sounds right, with the floor seating. All the references to sporting event seating I've seen is 4486. The old configuration was 5513 (fire code) with standing room. I would suggest that anything over 4400 qualifies as a sell out, accounting for no-shows.
