golf outing

Post by natetheskate »

The Alumni Golf Outing is coming up at Cog Hill on Thursday August 7th. I bring it up cuz it as a good time and good way to support athletics...Coach always gives an update speech and coaches and players are there and mingle....Coach Clemons is always my favorite. Sr. Jean usually has a bday celebration at the outing. not sure if she will be there this year...you dont have to golf,,,you can just come out and hang out...there is a non golf price that is pretty cheap....also a good silent auction of Chicago sports memorabilia and Loyola Swag. If you are interested just get a hold of Brian Day at the Athletic Department. I am going to win the gd thing this year....Im running out of time....

Its a lot of fun....and if you are a LU bball fan a good chance for talking to coaches and players....getting great swag....there are always other teams there as well , usually the Women's volleyball team , both golf teams...It really feels like an LU celebration.....Look me up I will be wearing my oldest, scuzziest sweat soaked LU hat....hope to see a lot of you there.

well...highlite was we tied for first on Cog Hill #3...Steve Watson said largest turnout ever...THey had to use both courses, 1 and 3. Lot of the players were there to greet and hand out stuff..Miles Rubin was front and center. Did not recognize some of the guys, must have been new.Consensus from most people in the Athletic Department was that there is a ton of talent, better shooters but issue will be getting them all ready to work together and find a rotation. Coach Drew did not speak this year which is the first time I can remember him not. Also first time in a long time Sr. Jean was not there to celebrate her birthday. Two big time track guys Declan Murry and Sam P . played right behind us , lot of chatter, good guys. Met the new golf coach.who was impressive..Not sure which teams were hanging out on Course #1. Some good stuff at the silent auction/raffle. Lots of LU stuff but I scored a Caleb Williams signed jersey...will be interesting to see if that goes up or down in value?
The word from Steve Watson when I asked was that he thought we would remain the same or gain with 8pm A10 home games...which is just what I didnt want to hear...lots of old LU team reunions..standout was the girls golf team from the eary 2000s who were still hanging out when I called it a day...all in all a great LU day.....

7 pm is best, but when the TV time slots are 6 or 8, I 100% prefer 8 pm. For the 6 pm games the arena is empty for most of the first half, because nobody can make it there in time.
